Christmas Day
I'm hoping to stay offline tomorrow and spend all day with family. But I did want to post one holiday post.
Spanx
chatchien and I had some difficulty during our last movie night. We watched Romeo and Juliet in place of our originally scheduled Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. We also watched Helen Mirren be a badass feminist. She paused during her speech to pull up her "spanks". We assumed that was just British slang for panties BUT while Christmas shopping for my aunt at Dillards I discovered Spanx!

Christmas Shopping
I did all of my Christmas shopping this week! It was hectic but not so bad because I made up my mind to just be patient. I haven't really been in the Christmas mood (whatever that is) this year, so that made it a bit difficult. I still have a little shopping to do today. I just need to add a little something to my aunt's gift. For my other aunt I wanted to add a few stocking stuffers to her gift. I don't even start out early to go shopping. I just laze around and then leap into the tempest. Even worse, I think I have food ingredients to buy.

The Christmas Menu
(It's very Southern) *hearts*
Smoked Turkey
Baked Ham
Macaroni and Cheese
Candied Yams
Cornbread Dressing
Cranberry Sauce
Egg Nog (ME! I've never made this and ... I don't know if I'll put alcohol or not. Maybe I'll make it an optional addition)
Green Bean Casserole (Again Me. I've never made this before but I'm very excited about it.)
Potato Salad
Pecan Pie
Buttermilk Pecan Pie (This is usually me but this year my sister is making it; she is also adding coconut. I think she's trying to convert me. She used to be a fellow coconut hater.)
That's it! I may make some sugar cookies but there is only one oven and a lot of food to make so... I dunno.
Wrapping Gifts (aka Going Overboard)
All the gifts I purchased this year are pretty modest, so I wanted to spice things up by wrapping them in a way that reflects the person's personality. Or in a way that is a joke. My grandmother always answers "My two front teeth" when asked what she wants for Christmas, so I'm going to make her box look like two teeth. LOL! My mother has the entire family on the hunt for gold cross earrings. No matter how many we buy her they are NOT QUITE RIGHT. LOL! We've all given up. But maybe I could make her box look like gold cross earrings. Who knows if I'll have the energy to do this tonight but it makes me giggle whenever I think of it.
Decorating
As I said I haven't been feeling it this Christmas, but I kind of want to decorate for tomorrow. Usually I would do this the day after Thanksgiving. We'll see. I have a tiny little tree and lots of things for just my area of the house.
Parties
I was invited to four parties. I live so far away from everyone and everything that ... it was difficult with my lack of Christmas spirit to motivate myself to go. So I missed out on my Bootown actor friends party. That was probably the most fun party. The last time I went I drank mulled wine and hot cider and danced crazily. Then there was a more dignified Christmas party that I missed at the last minute. This one was given by Main Street Theater, the theater that put on Madeline's Christmas. I've been invited every year and never gone. I DID go to the Interactive Theater Christmas party. They had an Academy Award theme. I presented best portrayal of a Male Character. Maybe this one would have been the most fun. I laughed SO HARD. I haven't worked with them for a while and I missed them all SO MUCH. They are poor and a bit ragtag but SO TALENTED. I didn't win for my catagory (Best Portrayal of a Female Character in Christmas Carol as the Ghost of Christmas Present) but it was still fun to dress up. Last night I went to my friend's birthday party. She was born the 23rd of December. It was a wine and cheese party. I brought Champagne and a Gouda. Yum! All that cheese though... she needed to have some fruit and sandwiches on the menu as well. We played the weird version of Uno like... super powered Uno. It was so fun! I won twice.
Christmas Movies
I haven't watched ANY Christmas movies this year! That's usually my most favorite thing to do. So tonight and tomorrow... marathons! I did see the Narnia movie and the kid that portrayed Eustace was awesome. LOL! I'm still so in love with Georgie (Lucy) and Skandar Keynes (Edmond). I didn't even miss Susan and Peter. My sister recast Skandar as her Harry Potter. LOL!
Well... Merry Christmas, Yuletide Greetings... Oh! Speaking of Yule... on the day of the Winter Solstice there was a glorious moon in the sky! Also, there was an eclipse. I missed the eclipse but that MOON! Oh my goodness it was beautiful. Since it was about 80 degrees here for a while, it's nice that we got to see the moon down here. Early Christmas present. Happy Holidays to all!
